Early Years
Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he began to develope his skills in sports. Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School, where he initially struggled to make the varsity basketball team. In his sophomore year, he was cut from the team due to his height of 5 feet 11 inches, which was considered short at the time. This setback made him work harder towards his goals. When he grew 4 inches over the summer, he was finally accepted to the varsity team and averaged 25 points a game. His success laid the foundation for his future to achieve his goals.
